Hurry up

What is so important that you can’t wait a couple of extra seconds for the light to turn green before you get there? Seriously, seconds. It’s not like you’re going to miss the ferry and be late to work by hours. You’re flight isn’t lifting off as we speak because you obeyed the law. Unless you’re participating in some 21st century version of the Cannonball Run, you can wait. Whatever you’re in such a hurry to get to, it’s not going anywhere. There are reasons the laws are in place. If it was ok for you to decide whether or not you wanted to obey them they would be discretionary, but they’re not. The law applies to you, as well as the person driving that car that decided to wait for the green light. It’s ironic that saving yourself a few extra seconds of driving time is not only costing you a few hundred dollars, but also about fifteen minutes. FYI, I sit at this light frequently, because you’re not the only person that thinks they’re above the law.
